Toast handoff

All handoffs

This page is for the person who will use the Toast register after someone else set it up.

Handoff means you can sign in, ring a sale, and take a card without the person who set up the register standing there.

Same stuck moment that turns into a support ticket. Short steps and a video so you do not have to ping the builder.

Steps

  1. On the Toast terminal, sign in with your staff PIN or card. The business owner signs in to Toast Web. Do not write the PIN here.
  2. Start the order. On a counter screen, open Quick Order if you see it. Tap the items.
  3. Tap Pay. The button may show a dollar sign beside the word.
  4. For a card, swipe, insert, or tap it on the reader.
  5. The guest may choose a tip. Then they can pick Print, Text, or Email when those choices are on the screen. If they are not, the printer prints the receipt.

Button names move a little between devices. If a label is not on your screen, stay with the sale, the Pay or Charge button, and the receipt choices.
