WordPress handoff

This page is for the person who will update the live WordPress site after the builder leaves.

Handoff means you can sign in, change a page, and update it without the builder sitting there.

Same stuck moment that turns into a support ticket. Short steps and a video so you do not have to ping the builder.

Steps

Sign in to the dashboard with the account that owns the site. On many sites the dashboard address ends in /wp-admin. If the site is on WordPress.com, sign in at wordpress.com.
In the dashboard, open Pages. That list is where the pages live.
Open the page and click Edit. That opens the block editor.
Click a text block and type.
Click a picture. On the block toolbar, click Replace. Upload a file, or pick one from the Media Library.
If the page is already live, click Update. If it is still a draft, click Publish.

Button names move a little between editor versions. If a label is not on your screen, stay in the same places: the page list, the text, the picture, and the button that saves or publishes.
